August closed at record fixed transaction prices for both DRAM and NAND, but the monthly pace slowed and Q3 guidance keeps getting trimmed — the level is still making highs while the rate of change rolls over.

Records and deceleration are happening at the same time. August fixed transaction prices set highs across DRAM and NAND, yet the month-on-month step was smaller than July's, and Sigmaintell now has several Q3 categories under 10% QoQ against the +13-18% that was being quoted in early summer.
The DDR4 squeeze has not resolved. Legacy 16Gb and 8Gb parts remain the most violent lines on the board because buyers on locked industrial and networking BOMs cannot requalify out of nodes the tier-1s are retiring — supply, not demand, is setting that price.
HBM is the one place with a genuine two-price market. HBM3E spot is reported at 4-5x long-term agreement levels, and Korean export data has HBM averaging above $70 a unit; anything sold on allocation barely moves week to week, which is why the board looks calm and the tape does not.
Retail keeps lagging the die. The DDR5 retail composite is running mid-single digits on the month against larger moves in the underlying contract dies — retail absorbs late, then all at once, and that is usually where consumer demand starts to break.
Watch the second derivative, not the headline. Every bear signal this cycle has arrived in guidance first and in prints second; guidance has now been cut twice without the board turning red.
From MemoryIndex: the API plans are live and repriced — Starter $19/month or $190/year, Pro $29/month or $290/year, with two months free on either annual plan. Pro now carries everything the old Desk tier did: live levels, unlimited history and calls, the ledger, alerts, custom baskets and priority support. Details at memoryindex.io/api-plans.

Three headlines that moved a price
- DRAMDownside risk
Sigmaintell: Q3 memory price increases have narrowed sharply, some categories now under 10% QoQ
The clearest read that the increases are shrinking even while the levels keep printing records.

DRAM and NAND fixed transaction prices set August records, but the monthly pace slowed
Record August prints with a slower monthly pace is the cycle's two-sided story in one data point.

TrendForce: HBM3E spot said to be 4–5x long-term agreement levels; Samsung reportedly locked through 2031
A 4-5x spot-to-contract spread is the widest dislocation on the board and the reason HBM looks flat here.
