DRAM prices — spot and contract price chart
DDR5 and DDR4 dies, server RDIMMs and GDDR6 graphics memory, tracked side by side.
Quick answer: as of 2026-08-28, DDR5 16Gb (2Gx8) 4800/5600 is $51.04 USD / die, +7.42% over 30 days and +480.00% year over year. Across the 13 contracts tracked on this page the basket is +9.55% over 30 days and +487.69% year over year.
DRAM is the base layer of the whole memory market: the die price set in spot and quarterly contracts propagates into modules, kits and system prices weeks later. This page tracks the leading-edge DDR5 dies, the legacy DDR4 nodes suppliers are winding down, the RDIMMs hyperscalers buy, and the GDDR6 that competes for the same wafers.

SK hynix drops 5% after approving $38B of new memory fabs; Seagate falls 7%
Memory and storage names sold off after SK hynix approved a $38B fab program, with investors reading the spend as the first credible path back to oversupply. New front-end capacity takes 7-9 quarters to produce bits, so the risk lands in 2027-28, not this quarter.

CXMT eyes a second Beijing DRAM plant as China pushes toward Micron-scale output
CXMT is reported to be planning a second Beijing DRAM fab, targeting output approaching Micron's by late 2026. Chinese commodity DDR4/DDR5 supply is the single largest downside risk to the conventional-DRAM price curve.

FAQ
- What is the current DRAM price?
- The table above shows the latest tracked DDR5 16Gb, DDR4 16Gb and DDR4 8Gb die levels alongside server RDIMM and GDDR6 pricing, each with 30-day and year-over-year change.
- What is the difference between DRAM spot and contract prices?
- Spot prices come from daily broker surveys of small-lot trades and move first. Contract prices are quarterly settlements between suppliers and large OEMs, and they lag spot by weeks — which is why a spot turn is the leading indicator for everything downstream.
- Why are DRAM prices going up?
- HBM for AI accelerators consumes far more wafer area per shipped bit than commodity DRAM, so capacity reallocated to HBM shrinks mainstream bit supply. Suppliers are also ending legacy DDR4 nodes, which is why DDR4 has moved hardest of all.
- Where does this DRAM price data come from?
- Broker spot boards, quarterly contract settlements, company filings and retail trackers. Every level is flagged reported, derived or estimate and links to its source — see the methodology page for the full ranked source list.
