DDR4 price today — live DDR4 die and module tracker
The legacy node suppliers are winding down, and the hardest-moving corner of the memory market.
Quick answer: as of 2026-08-28, DDR5 16Gb (2Gx8) 4800/5600 is $51.04 USD / die, +7.42% over 30 days and +480.00% year over year. Across the 5 contracts tracked on this page the basket is +8.83% over 30 days and +563.00% year over year.
DDR4 is being discontinued at the leading suppliers while millions of installed platforms still need it. That mismatch is why DDR4 has outrun DDR5 on a percentage basis. This page tracks the 16Gb and 8Gb DDR4 dies against the DDR5 dies replacing them, so you can see the spread between the retiring node and the new one.

SK hynix drops 5% after approving $38B of new memory fabs; Seagate falls 7%
Memory and storage names sold off after SK hynix approved a $38B fab program, with investors reading the spend as the first credible path back to oversupply. New front-end capacity takes 7-9 quarters to produce bits, so the risk lands in 2027-28, not this quarter.

CXMT eyes a second Beijing DRAM plant as China pushes toward Micron-scale output
CXMT is reported to be planning a second Beijing DRAM fab, targeting output approaching Micron's by late 2026. Chinese commodity DDR4/DDR5 supply is the single largest downside risk to the conventional-DRAM price curve.

FAQ
- What is the DDR4 price today?
- The table above shows the latest tracked DDR4 16Gb and 8Gb die levels with 30-day and year-over-year change, alongside the DDR5 dies they are being replaced by.
- Why has DDR4 gone up more than DDR5?
- Samsung, SK hynix and Micron are ending legacy DDR4 nodes to free wafer capacity for DDR5 and HBM. Demand from networking, industrial, automotive and older server platforms did not disappear at the same speed, so a shrinking supply is chasing steady demand — the classic end-of-life price spike.
- Should I upgrade DDR4 RAM now or wait?
- DDR4 supply only gets tighter as nodes are retired, so the historical pattern for an end-of-life memory node is higher prices and worse availability over time, not lower. Watch the 30-day column here: it is the first place a genuine reversal would show up.
